Lola Update

We received most of the bloodwork results for Lola, which was perfectly normal. We are waiting on the other half but supposedly, the part we already heard back on is the most crucial. So that is a relief. As I discussed with the doctor before, there are different kinds and causes of seizures. We did the bloodwork which is the first step to rule out anything bad. The next step would be a MRI, but we would not do that unless she started having them more often. So it looks like she may have just had a idiopathic seizure, which means that there is no identifiable brain abnormality other than seizures. It is common for the dog to suffer their first idiopathic seizure between the ages of 2 and 5 (Lola is 4). The Labrador Retriever is also one of the breeds that are genetically likely to develop the idiopathic seizures. This means she may be likely to suffer future seizures however they are usually roughly a year or so apart. But hopefully this the only one she will ever suffer because we don't want to have to go through that again!
